I am from Puebla, Mexico, which is about two hours south of Mexico City. I got my bachelors' degree in pure Mathematics at UNAM (National University of Mexico) in 2001. During my undergrad I worked on General Topology, and I wrote a Thesis-report on Continuum Theory. I decided to obtain a Ph.D. in Mathematics. I started the grad school in Applied Mathematics at the University of Utah in 2002, then I transferred to Arizona State University in 2004. Since then, I have been working with professor Carlos Castillo-Chavez. During the summer of 2005, I had the opportunity to attend MTBI, and I worked on a model in epidemiology -a multy-patch deterministic model of Foot-and-mouth disease. Once I pass the qualifying examinations (December 2005) I am going to start my thesis research in epidemiology.
