My name is Kamal Barley and I'm from a small town called Vieux-Fort in St.Lucia. I immigrated to the US at the age of fourteen to pursue higher education. My undergraduate years were spent at Kingsborough Community College where I earned my associates degree, and at Medgar Evers College of the City University of New York (CUNY) where I earned my B.S. in mathematics. During my tenure at Medgar Evers, I did research in geometric analysis using classical and modern models. I was also involved in research in the area of differential geometry as a Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) scholar, and concurrently I was a teaching assistant at Medgar Evers - which I did for three years. As a PhD student, I haven't decided on a research topic. However, my focus is to pass my qualifying exams.
