Hi, my name is Asela Acosta.  I was born in Queretaro, Queretaro, Mexico, but I also lived in Celaya, Guanajuato.  I moved to Laredo, TX about eleven years ago, and am currently living in Tempe, Arizona, where I’m studying for a Master’s in Mathematics. I had the wonderful opportunity to attend MTBI in the summer of 2005 (right after my BA graduation).  I had the great opportunity to meet people from different parts of the world (I counted them and were over 27).  I also had the pleasure to work with people who have become my friends.  We worked on an epidemic model for HSV-1 and wanted to determine if a vaccine or the treatment alone would be less expensive.  We are still working, making progress, and updating our work, so we hope we can publish this paper some time soon.
