I’m the eldest in a family of eight children and the first to graduate from high school and college.  I graduated from ASU in 2001 and then went on to teach high school math for a year and a half in the Phoenix area.   My interest in mathematics first started in high school. They were greatly encouraged and fermented by Dr. Joaquin Bustoz, a former math professor at ASU.  It was through Dr. Bustoz that I also met Dr. Carlos Castillo-Chavez. Both Dr. Bustoz and Dr. Castillo-Chavez have greatly influenced my desire to continue to learn and enjoy mathematics. My current interest lies in mathematical biology and mathematical education (Differential equations and rate of change). I have co-authored several technical reports and have an article in a refereed journal (Mathematical Biosciences).
