Jose Luis Almora was born in Lima, Peru and grew up in Miami, Florida. He completed his B.S. in Mathematics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2005 adn the following semester, started his graduate degree at Arizona State University. His degree will cover topics in Applied Mathematics focusing primarily in Mathematical Biology. In the past, he has done projects involving ecological systems and looks forward to working on other topics. His hobbies include various outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, and snowboarding. When not reading journals he enjoys science-fiction and mystery books as well as Calvin and Hobbes.
