My name is Alicia Urdapilleta, I am from Mexico and I am currently a graduate student in Applied Mathematics at Arizona State University. I received my BA in Mathematics and Hispanic Literature from Mills College in Oakland, CA. During my undergraduate education I participated in several summer research programs. One influential program was the Mathematical and Theoretical Biology Institute (MTBI), where I had the opportunity to collaborate with other students, and meet several researchers in the mathematical biology field. I became fascinated by the breadth and depth of the spectrum of mathematical biology. Participating in MTBI made me realize I wanted to continue exploring the areas of mathematical modeling. Now in grad school, my focus is Mathematical Biology with special interest in cancer and tumor dynamics.
